Atletico Madrid arrive in Lisbon ahead of Champions League final phase

Atletico Madrid landed in Lisbon on Tuesday, two days before they take on RB Leipzig in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Their travelling group was two people short, though, as Angel Correa and Sime Vrsaljko both tested positive for coronavirus and have therefore had to remain in Madrid.

The coronavirus tests that UEFA requires them to undergo two days before travelling to Lisbon detected the two positives, while the rest of the squad will now have to pass the relevant UEFA controls in Lisbon.

Fortunately, both Correa and Vrsaljko are asymptomatic, with the players and the club making this known publicly.

The rest of the Atletico squad were able to travel to Portugal without problems and will therefore be at Diego Simeone's disposal on Thursday night.

The Coronavirus Champions League

This edition will be decided in a final-eight phase, with one-legged matches in the quarter-finals and semi-finals and, of course, without fans in the stands.
